Sharing of Knowledge

  1. Basically, there are 2 types of barcodes available in the market. The 1-D barcodes are the common barcodes that we see every day on the items such as a bar of chocolate. There are many barcode symbologies that are 1-D. The most common ones are CODE39, interleaved 2 or 5, EAN013, UPC-A and the code 128. They are scannable using the common barcode readers. These barcode are read from left to right or in some cases, bi-directional.
  2. The 2-D barcodes allow storage of larger pieces of information and there are a few types of barcodes of this type. For instance PDF-417,
    Codabar and Datamatrix.
  3. There are a handful of important information / guideline for the selection of barcodes.
    • Barcode size – avoid using too small size wherever possible. This is to improve the scannability of the barcode.
    • Barcode height – the height should be maximized to enable the scanning from wide range of position.
    • Print contrast – ideally the barcode should be printed in black on white, non-glossy background.
    • Quiet zone – this refers to the space to the left and right of 1-D barcode or all-around for the 2-D barcodes. Typically this should be 10X the with of the narrow bar o ensure good reading.

Key Notes

  1. *Barcode label – serialized labels serve as tacking instrument for identification of the batch number or any other information necessary to trace your products. We offer a variety of the barcode patterns including the two dimensional (2-D) symbologies for high density data encoding
  2. Our quality checking system ensures that every barcode label that is delivered will be scannable to eliminate the down-time
    due to bad scan.
  3. ** Warranty seal- to seal products against tampering, Seki carries out a wide range of tamper-indicating label that will ensure the integrity of your products.
  4. This mechanism is tearing of the seal and leaving the adhesive traces on the product, which renders the seal unusable.
